Construction of Phase One of the Community Civic Campus is underway following City Council award of contract on January 8, 2020 to Swinerton Builders. Official Notice to Proceed (NTP) was issued by City of South San Francisco on February 20, 2020. The new Police Operations & 911 Dispatch Center will be constructed at the site of the former Pet Club building, located at 1 Chestnut Avenue. Contractor mobilization and construction activities began on the latter part in February 2020. Construction is expected to be complete in fall of 2021.

City of South San Francisco will provide monthly construction updates via progress photos in addition to neighborhood newsletters. The newsletters will help provide a summary of activities completed in the previous month in addition to providing a look-ahead as to upcoming activities.

In approximately 18 months, the more than 100 employees of the South San Francisco Police Department will have a new state-of-the-art Police Operations & 911 Dispatch Center to call home. The nearly 43,000 square foot facility will house the 911 Emergency Center, administrative services, records, communications, investigations, property and evidence, patrol, physical training, a classroom and firing range.
