What type of tax was passed by the voters with Measure W?
Measure W is a District tax, which is a type of sales and use tax. For more information, download the District Taxes (Sales and Use Taxes) publication by the State of California.
How much is the tax?
The District tax is one-half percent (.5%). That is an additional $0.50 in tax for $100 of items subject to the tax.
When does the tax go into effect?
The District tax went in to effect April 1, 2016.
Approximately how much will the Community Civic Campus cost?
The project is estimated to cost $210 million and includes the cost to acquire land needed, design services for all buildings, and construction of Library and Parks & Recreation Facility, Police Station as well as parking.  The Fire Station will be built as part of a future phase.
What is included in the Community Civic Campus Program?
Project includes:
  • Design and construction of a new Library and Park & Recreation facility.
  • Design of a new Fire Station (Station #63). Construction is part of phase 2.
  • Design and construction of a new Police Station.
Where will these new buildings be built?
Buildings will be built as follows:
  • The new Library and Parks & Recreation facility will be built at the corner of El Camino Real and Chestnut.
  • The Police facility will be built at the corner of Antoinette and Chestnut, across from the Library and Parks & Recreation facility.
  • The Fire station will be located at the corner of Camaritas Avenue and Arroyo Drive.
When will construction begin? Anticipated completion?
Anticipated construction schedule is as follows:
  • Construction for the Library and Parks & Recreation facility is expected to begin in Q1 of 2020.
  • Construction for the Police Station is also expected to begin in Q1 of 2020.
  • Construction for the Fire Station is part of future phase that will be built when the Municipal Services Building (MSB) site is sold to a developer/interested party. Timing of this is not yet determined

Will services for Police/Fire change during construction? Service change after construction?
Services during construction will not change.
Services following construction of each facility will improve and increase customer services, as well as response times resulting from significant upgrades and improvements to technology and equipment for each facility.
What will happen to the current Municipal Services Building (MSB) during construction? After construction?
City uses in the MSB by Parks & Recreation including Police will relocate to the new Community Civic Campus buildings, once built. Fire Station #63 will continue to operate out of MSB until the new Fire Station is built, as part of a future phase.
Will the programs offered at Parks & Recreation be changing? Or going away during construction?
Programming at the Municipal Services Building (MSB) site will continue while the new project is in construction.
Part of the measure included additional programs for seniors, youth & disabled residents,when will these start? Will all programs move to new building?
All existing programs, plus new programming would move to the new building and be available when the facility opens.

Are there any businesses being affected by the construction of any of these buildings?
The only business affected by this program is the Pet Club.The site was purchased by the City and the Pet Club is currently on a month to month lease.
